CD Projekt has announced that a major update for Cyberpunk 2077 will be arriving within the first three months of 2022, and that the company is also working on the first expansion for the sci-fi RPG.
After years of hype and numerous delays, Cyberpunk 2077 was launched in September 2020 but was heavily criticized by players and media alike. The game launched with several bugs and glitches as well as performance issues that prompted CD Projekt to publicly apologise and offer refunds to disgruntled buyers.
To fix the many issues with the main game, The Witcher developer decided to push back the game’s planned free DLC content, its first expansion as well as its next-gen console update to late 2021. Then in October, CD Projekt further pushed all updates to 2022, while continuing to issue smaller patches over the course of the year.
CD Projekt has not shared any details on what the major update will include, but aside from more quality-of-life improvements, it could also include the planned free DLC content. And if The Witcher 3 is any indication, fans can also expect the game’s expansion to be beefy and content-packed.
Meanwhile, CD Projekt has also begun preliminary work on a new project, but has not indicated whether this will be a new game in the Witcher or Cyberpunk universes or a new IP altogether.
We expect to hear more about the Cyberpunk 2077 update and expansions early next year, and we’ll be sure to have all those details at the OMEN Playground as they drop.
