Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl, the upcoming first-person, survival horror game from developer GSC Game World, has been delayed to December 2022. The game was initially set to launch this April.
Stalker 2 is the highly awaited sequel to Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, a relatively unknown but well received survival-horror game that paved the way for the Metro series as well as other immersive-sim like games. You played as a stalker, a mercenary of sorts who had to survive the horrors that were unleashed by the events that transpired in Chernobyl.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl serves as a direct sequel to that game, offering a host of new and immersive gameplay tweaks. Sadly, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to explore this contaminated zone as the studio needs more time to apply finishing touches.
“These additional seven months of development are needed to fulfill our vision and achieve the desired state of the game. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is the biggest project in the history of GSC, and it requires thorough testing and polishing. We are convinced that development should take as long as necessary, especially in the case of such a project,” the developer stated in a Twitter post.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl now has a release date of December 8 and the game will be available to PC Game Pass. The game will also be available on day one for PC Game Pass subscribers.
